Musician Huey Lewis sings, "I want a new drug." Well, I have found it, and it's HONEY! If you are a musician, writer, storyteller, painter, or any kind of artist or entertainer, you are always searching for ways to boost creativity and evoke the muse to create something amazing. One of my favorite methods to achieve this is by using DELICIOUS, NATURAL HONEY. It's packed with honey benefits, is 100% safe, and has no side effects—other than perhaps inspiring you to write a great song or create something magical. Plus, it definitely won't make you crash your car.
I have experimented with different ways to boost creativity through wine, various teas, and chocolate, but I discovered that honey works best, especially my 'Wolf Howl' and 'Happy Cat' premium honey, due to the rich variety of flavors in just one spoonful.
Grab your honey and get near your musical instrument, palette, notebook, or whatever you use to create your art.
Begin with a positive prayer or affirmation. Take three long, slow, deep breaths. Open the lid of the honey jar, stick your nose over it, and inhale the fragrance, truly enjoying and savoring it. Let the sweet aroma fill your lungs and mind. Feel the sweetness.
Next, take a generous spoonful of natural honey and place it in your mouth. Don't be a dope; remember to remove the spoon. Close your eyes, and do not swallow right away. Allow the honey to dissolve and flow over your tongue, lips, and gums. Sit still and truly feel the honey. Different areas of your tongue will reveal different flavors. Bee quiet and listen for your heartbeat. Notice the various tastes and sensations. You may even see colors, hear music, or experience wonderful feelings of peace. Mentally step into a beautiful daydream.
Observe any words, phrases, musical notes, or images that appear. Don’t question them. You might envision a sweet honey bee, an angel, a bird, a butterfly, or any beautiful animal, real or mystical, and be grateful for it. If desired, repeat with a few more spoonfuls of honey. If you need to open your eyes, do so slowly, without breaking your trance.
Then, s-l-o-w-l-y open your eyes, grab the tool that aids your art, and without overthinking, just CREATE!
Musically, I turn on a recording device, play guitar, strumming G, D, C, and sing whatever words, melodies, or rhythms come to mind. Sometimes it’s just a random word or one of the 'tastes' within the honey. Other times, it’s the word 'love,' 'bliss,' 'joy,' or a color I saw. Occasionally, I get lyrics for a children's song, a fun love ballad, or a poem. Once, I wrote three songs from start to finish in just a few minutes. At times, I sit at the piano and play boogie-woogie bass notes like Fats Domino. Other moments, I hear and sing my favorite songs, including 'Still of the Night,' 'Is This Love,' 'Slide It In,' or James Brown's 'I Feel Good,' among various Whitesnake, Scorpions, Sammy Hagar, Journey, Motown, or country hits, even if poorly. Sometimes, I find inspiration for classical pieces like 'Ode to Joy' or 'Dance of the Bumblebee' or come up with ideas for a short story, a joke, or a Peter Max-style painting. Occasionally, I just start dancing. I never know what will happen next. The euphoria and artistic inspiration I gain from consuming raw natural honey are incredible and completely healthy! The creativity boost lasts a long time, and other musicians, writers, and artists have shared similar experiences.
